Schulauer Fahrhaus - Willkomm-Höft Schiffsbegrüßungsanlage in Wedel

Unfortunately, Corona is conditionally closed. There was a way to buy something from a cart. Drinks, soup, etc ... we didn't use it. A nice excursion destination for families with children and dogs

Willkommhöft is always worth a visit, and in non-pandemic times this also applies to the restaurant in the Schulauer Fährhaus. Great kitchen! Even in these times, a fish stall in front of the building offers visitors a small gastronomic offer, which is really great and makes Willkommhöft a nice excursion destination - even at this time. However, it is generally completely anachronistic to only accept card payments from 20 euros - and in times of Corona that doesn't have to be. The parking lot can only be paid for with cash. Real minus point in 2021 - the country I usually live in has just 5 million inhabitants, but you can of course pay for potatoes that you buy from a handcart on the roadside in the province with a card. Since it is generally possible here, but the operators have decided to offer this payment option only with a minimum fee, you have to be very hungry alone or in pairs and eat five or six fish rolls at the same time. However, based on previous experiences with the restaurant, I am convinced that these would taste great :)

Very nice view of the large container ships. When the ferry house is open, there is suitable music (anthem of the ship's country of origin). There is currently a stand that sells fish rolls and more.

The worst fried fish roll we have ever eaten in this world. So dry that the desert is damp. Taste minus 10. For 4.80 € is a joke. Fish scraps pressed together, half a teaspoon of tartar sauce, half a slice of tomato, an onion ring and a quarter leaf of lettuce. “One can dream of that.

Today it was pretty cold and windy. It is a very nice place to stay. Everything is clean and tidy. 👍

The ship's welcome facility is not a phenomenal, but a beautiful attraction in Wedel. If you like ships and the port of Hamburg, you should also pass by here. Here every ship of a certain size that sails into the Port of Hamburg is greeted by name.

We know this place because we live nearby. This place is always good for a walk. Unfortunately you cannot stop at the ferry house at the moment due to Corona, but if you can do it again, you shouldn't miss this one either.

The food is good in quality and selection. There is also plenty of space, a large outdoor terrace (with a tent and heated in winter) and a great view of the Elbe. You can find out interesting facts about all larger ships such as start, destination, size etc. The ships are then greeted with the anthem of their flag state and some respond with their foghorn.

Wonderful when the ships pass by and the announcement about the type of ship sounds through the loudspeakers and the national anthem is played.

The coffee could taste better, but I'm a bit spoiled. Otherwise very nice for tourists when ships come by.

Sea view and delicious meal

It's a nice place, where you can ride the bike alongside the river Elbe 🚲😊 with some restaurants and ice cream spots to rest 🚴‍♂️

This luxurious restaurant is near the river (elbe) and therefore you can have a great view on passing ships. The food is really good but quite expensive. I would suggest eating either fish or beef. Moreover there is a big glass window to the kitchen so the customer can see it.

Top service

If you want to see big ships, this is the place for you. At the moment it is not that comfortable because there are construction sites. Therefore not a full score. There is coffee and cake as well as fish rolls, french fries, etc. Well worth a visit for an afternoon trip.

The food is a bit more expensive, but for the quality of the food and the experience of the ship's greeting it is absolutely worth it in my eyes. The passing ships are greeted and bid farewell with the national anthem of their country (sometimes also that of the crew). Always with a nice sentence. The welcoming captains also tell a few facts about each large ship. The whole thing is accompanied by the down and up of the Hamburg flag. For me with every ship, goosebumps again and again. Service very good. Everyone is very attentive and friendly in the pleasant way. I'm looking forward to my next visit.

Excellent food, prepared with love. Open kitchen and friendly staff. The highlight, of course, is the "Willkomm Höft" and the ship's welcome system. You could linger for hours and watch the ships.

Very tasty and with a great view. The view of the Elbe is great, the ship's greeting clear; plus the good food and delicious drinks ... this season the chef outdoes himself. A refreshment on the terrace below is also very tasty and informal.

We went to a wedding, the staff / service was top notch! Despite all the corona rules that are part of it, the crew did a very good job! The kitchen has also conjured up a pure / delicious meal. We were there for the first time. And will certainly visit it again as a la carte guests. In addition, the location itself has a great view of the Elbe and you can see the big pots that drive past there.

Dear team from the Schulauer Fährhaus, We were able to experience our free wedding ceremony and our wedding celebration with you on Friday, August 28th, 2020. It was so wonderful with you, you really fulfilled our every wish. Our guests loved the service team, the food was excellent and the ambience was really great. We could still list a lot of great things, but that would go beyond the scope here. Nearby to hamburg, very small area and less crowd. But water is not clear 😕

I found not only the view fascinating, but also the detailed explanations of the passing ships. The fact that the cake is also delicious contributes significantly to the very good impression.

I had heard a lot and it was time to see it for myself, but said it that way. I don't need to go back there. Yes, the big ships are welcomed, but that's about it. There is a restaurant at the point where you can eat and drink as well as a snack. Parking spaces are very rare and I didn't find it really nice. I think some others see it differently, but there are nicer places on the Elbe. If you are still interested, there is a jetty for local public transport on the water.

A unique place where every vessel or ship which enters Hamburg harbour is welcomed by playing the national anthem of the country to which the ship belongs to. Watch this ceremony makes you feel the amount of work that goes into goods shipment.

Wonderful restaurant-fab food. For try the halibut followed by creme brulee. Easy parking on site. On the banks of the Elbe with passing shipping who when arriving are greeted with their national anthem & welcome to Hamburg & when leaving they play Auf Wiedersehen Sweetheart!

Good food, good beer, good view. Not a lot else you could want.

Where wedel greets ships entering the river port of hamburg

This is the welcome point for all ships entering the Hamburg port. It is such a great place to visit and look at all the boats coming in and out of the harbour. National anthem of the ship is played when it is coming in to the harbour.

Watch ships go by, a Hamburg tradition.
